Shortage / Damage Claim Policy

Effective June 25, 2021

  • Shortages and/or visible damage must be noted with the carrier at the time of shipment delivery and signature (this applies to any carrier that OED uses).
    • If a shortage or damage is not noted on the driver's delivery receipt and the shipment is signed for "free and clear," the receiving dealer will be fully responsible for any charged or replacement fees associated with the shipment.
  • Report shortages or damages to OED immediately.


UPS Flat Rate Policy

Effective January 3, 2023

Each parts order placed totaling less than $350 will be charged a Standard UPS Flat Rate Fee of $17.50 per box or package. Additional policy notes:
  • The $30.00 minimum order applies prior to the Flat Rate charge.
  • Once an order is placed, it cannot be added to or changed.
  • Parts Backorders:
    • All dealers will be invoiced standard shipping charges on any parts backorders.
  • Accessory Backorders:
    • All dealers will be invoiced standard shipping charges on any accessory backorders.
  • Products classified by UPS as over-sized or overweight and carry special UPS charges do not qualify for this program.
    • Examples include, but are not limited to: wheel motors, clutches, tires, deck shells / frames, drive shafts, impellers, mulch kits, trimmer and pruner pipes / tubes, saw cases, hatchets, axes, loppers, Grass Gobblers, and vacuum hoses.
  • Orders placed by description or that require lookup do not qualify for the UPS Flat Rate; these orders will be charged regular UPS charges.

Prepaid Freight for Parts and Accessories

Effective January 4, 2021

  • Parts and non-serialized accessory orders totaling $350 or more will be shipped freight prepaid.
    • Exceptions: any item that is non-UPS shippable or shipped via freight will not count toward the $350 minimum.
    • Subject to credit approval; past due accounts will not receive freight prepaid shipments.
    • Serialized products, Oil, and Red Armor Fuel are not included in this program; they are subject to their own freight policies.
  • Equipment / whole goods orders are subject to the freight policy outlined in their respective dealer program.
    • OED currently uses a 20-point system to reach the Prepaid Freight level.
    • ECHO and Shindaiwa Dealers have two ways to qualify for Prepaid Freight:
      • Handheld Freight Policy (see below).
      • Standard Freight Policy (see below).
  • Products classified by UPS as over-sized or overweight and carry special UPS charges do not qualify for this program.
    • Examples include, but are not limited to: wheel motors, clutches, tires, deck shells / frames, drive shafts, impellers, mulch kits, trimmer and pruner pipes / tubes, saw cases, hatchets, axes, loppers, Grass Gobblers, and vacuum hoses.
  • Parts and accessories ordered with whole goods that meet the requirements for prepaid freight earn the same freight terms as the whole goods.
  • All shipments not meeting product line guidelines or not in compliance with the above, are F.O.B. Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Literature ordered with whole goods, accessories, and/or parts (Open Account only) receives the same freight terms as the whole goods, accessories, and/or parts.
    • Literature ordered separately is shipped Freight Collect.

ECHO / Shindaiwa Handheld Freight Policy

Effective November 21, 2022

ECHO and Shindaiwa Dealers have two ways to qualify for Prepaid Freight.

  • $3,500 or more at dealer cost in any combination of the following:
    • ECHO and/or Shindaiwa whole goods.
    • ECHO and/or Shindaiwa attachments.
    • ECHO and/or Shindaiwa accessories.
      • Now includes Oil and Red Armor Fuel.
    • ECHO and/or Shindaiwa parts.
  • Standard In-Season Freight Policy.


Standard In-Season Freight Policy

Effective September 1, 2021

Orders totaling 20 points or more, in any combination products defined below, qualify for Prepaid Freight.

  • Provided dealer placed a qualified Pre-Season Order; otherwise, all In-Season Orders are F.O.B. Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Provided dealer's Open Account and Wells Fargo CDF account are current at time of shipment.
  • All orders will ship on OED approved LTL truck lines or via UPS.
  • Special shipping instructions will incur actual freight charges.

ECHO Freight Points

  • 1 point = all serialized whole goods; spreaders; battery powered units; PWE-1800
  • 1/2 point = PAS attachments; sprayers
  • 2 points = pressure washers (excludes PWE-1800); fire pump; inverters; generators; wheeled trimmers; shredder/chippers; $500 accessories; $500 oil

Shindaiwa Freight Points

  • 1 point = all serialized whole goods; spreaders
  • 1/2 point = Multi-Tool and PowerBroom attachments; sprayers
  • 2 points = $500 accessories; $500 oil

Wright Freight Points

  • 8 points = $2,500.00 to $9,999.99 order at dealer cost
  • 16 points = $10,000.00 to $19,999.99 order at dealer cost
  • 20 points = $20,000.00 or more order at dealer cost

Walker Freight Points

  • 8 points = $2,500.00 to $9,999.99 order at dealer cost
  • 16 points = $10,000.00 to $19,999.99 order at dealer cost
  • 20 points = $20,000.00 or more order at dealer cost

Brown Freight Points

  • 3 points = $1,000 to $2,499.99 order at dealer cost
  • 4 points = $2,500.00 to $3,500.99 order at dealer cost
  • 5 points = $3,501.00 or more order at dealer cost

Velke / Grass Gobbler Freight Points

  • 1 point = all products


Drop Ship Policy for Parts and Accessories

Effective November 11, 2019

  • All drop ship orders to End Users need to be entered on OED's website.
    • Dealers are responsible for shipping costs as well as any fees related to incorrect or incomplete addresses.
  • "No Description" orders will not be processed.
  • Dealers take responsibility for handling any shortages, damages, or lost shipments with their End User.
  • Each order needs to meet OED's $30.00 minimum order policy.
  • Only UPS orders may be drop shipped.

Pre-Paid or Collect on Delivery Orders

  • Once an order has been pre-paid, allow 48 hours for processing time.
  • Any C.O.D. charges generated by our carriers (motor freight or small package) are billable to the dealer.
    • Orders shipped via motor freight will have pricing set by the trucking company; these charges are usually based on the dollar value of the order.
    • Allow 48 hours processing time for C.O.D. orders.
